Thank You for Your Patience

A quick note to my loyal readers: This summer and fall have been a whirlwind, thanks to work on other projects and preparation for a new little monster that will be coming to inhabit our dungeon very soon. As a result, I’ve fallen way behind on responding to e-mail messages and acknowledging reader requests. Today I’ve gone through all my outstanding e-mail and put together a queue of 18 different monster types to look at in the coming weeks. If there’s a monster you requested that I look at and I haven’t gotten to it yet, don’t despair: I’ll get to it soon! (I’ll also try to improve my posting rate, which has gone from mediocre to dismal. Such are the demands of life.)

  1. Thank you for leaving this little note! I personally am not too offended by the infrequent schedule (It adds a decent bit of unpredictability that isn’t all that bad). I am also wondering if you are ever going to cover gargoyles. They aren’t all that complicated, but they need more personality to them. If I may also ask, are you going to ever cover Demon Lords/Archdevils. I remember in a previous article you stated that you will not be covering the Lords of the Abyss, but now that they are in Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes, they would be more accessible to players. I’m simply curious.

    1. One of the problems with covering such big baddies is that they are literally the movers and shakers of the world. Their actions can shape or re-shape entire campaigns, and thus it’s impossible to predict how they’ll act in any given situation. It’s just too situational and dependent upon what a DM has already established about their world, how it works, the type of game they’re running, the actions of the party thus far, etc.

  2. Congratulations! I’m glad to hear this site is set to continue, I always recommend it to any friends who are new to DM-ing/people who don’t already know about this!

  3. Ditto on what Ben Meade says. I have no problem with inconsistency as long as we keep getting your amazing insight one bite at a time. ^^

This blog is always a pleasure to read, and always one I recommend to other DMs who are interested in tactics.

Also, congratulations on the new critter!

  4. Please do not worry, Keith. If your life is a whirlwind, your readers (I assume) will wait patiently, because you (and your content) are awesome.
